Faith Healing VS Medical Science

Faith Healing;

Healing achieved by religious belief and prayer, rather than by medical treatment.

In the Philippines Faith Healing has flourished like sprout, one can always see and can always choose from different kinds and types of Faith healing.
The Philippines has once been considered to be the “Mecca” of faith healing, The Filipino people are divided between spirituality and modern medicine.
Filipinos with its strong religious ties tends to rely more to the wonders and effectiveness of Faith Healing rather than the true and scientifically proven fact of modern medicine.
It can be traced back to the old times when medical doctors and facilities are very limited especially from far flung areas, people then seeks the advise and care of hilots and albularyos (people who uses traditional methods in treating medical problems) rather than a certified medical professional.
Financial matters play a significant part of the burgeoning of Faith healing in the country. A poor person has no choice but to opt for the wonder of Faith Healing rather than seeking medical help.
The “can afford” however increases their chance of survival after opting to seek professional medical help instead.

James 5:15;
And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins then he will be forgiven

Filipinos being so religious relies greatly from many bible scriptures for back up and basis of their faith, but sometimes their faith proves less from the destructive power of some illnesses and diseases.
In the US today a couple is being put to trial for manslaughter after their daughter died from complications of diabetes.
If addressed medically she could not have died. Sadly the couple left their chances to the profession of their faith and did not seek medical attention for their medically ill child.
The child was only twelve years old.
Mortality rate of people dying from different kinds of illnesses increases over the years, most of them come from members of some religious sects.

I for example am battling from complications brought about by two heart attacks. My heart is already severely damaged and is now degenerating. My daily activities are affected greatly. I cannot do simple tasks and chores that I used to do before as I easily get tired and does not feel well all the time.
I definitely know that something is wrong inside my body.
Having a medical background I am well aware that I maybe suffering from other illnesses apart from my pre existing heart condition.
I am supposed to be back at the hospital for treatment but could not do so, whenever I have an attack my mum being a lay minister and a preacher could only tell me to pray.
It seems difficult to pray in times when I am in great pain and agony, but my mum is always frantic into reciting her verses instead of bringing me to the hospital.
Luckily I was able to survive several occasions of attacks, must my mums faith healed me in some way or is my medical state still degenerates by the day and only waits for a final blow to come?
Could I have been saved temporarily?
I could never know, If I have money myself I would readily exercise my right to seek for medical treatment.
How sad a poor man has to suffer from monetary inadequacy?
My parents are somehow fed up of the cost that they need to pay for my medical treatment as I have been in and out of the hospital this past months, our resources were drained.
Only maybe when I suffer from apoplexy then will I be rushed to the ER again.
What If I could not survive? Would they blame themselves for not acting too soon enough?
I could never tell, I don’t see the point of waiting until the situation gets worse.
A common scenario not only experienced by me but to other families as well.
A friend of mine died a year ago; she used to complain of stomach ache but was always disregarded by her family and only taken to be common indigestion. Later in turned out that she suffered from thoracic aneurysm and it was already too late when she was rushed to the hospital, her aneurysm had ruptured and she died instantly.
Countless tears had been shed. If only she had been attended to properly.

It is a given fact that I believe in God. Coming from a family who practices Christianity but I also well know that medical science exist and is designed by God with a purpose to help medically ill people who are not yet bound to be buried six feet under the ground.
It has a purpose and should be practiced and considered wonderfully.
The human body is bound to be encountering illnesses, might be a simple infection, common flu or cough of which can always be easily treated but when left unattended can lead to complications and even death.
A significant number of people professes the powers and effectiveness of Faith healing, yet their accounts have not yet been disclosed properly in public.

Finding religious spirituality when faced with an illness can be very overwhelming. One can always claim that he/she is healed.
Medical science and the practice of Faith healing should be working hand in hand in obtaining treatment.
Faith Healing should not be relied solely upon when addressing medical encumbrances rather it should be combined with the proven scientific effectiveness of modern medicine.
Though it is written that faith and hope can help save us but still I still strongly would like to point out that there is a purpose why the human race has devised and created a health care system.
Modern medicine has proven its worth and effectiveness billions times over while faith healing has not.

In the Philippines and in other countries Faith healing has become a lucrative business.
Some practitioners lie and cheat to convince that they can perform miracles, but their effectiveness remains futile up to this point.

In the end it is our choice, we can always choose to be glacial or sanguine when addressing our medical problems. Faith healer or medical doctor? You decide.

                                                                           END

As my medical state goes downhill fast, I practice my faith in praying to have a peaceful passing.
I may have well accepted the fact that I cannot be addressed medically anymore as my family cannot afford further treatment. I have my medicines however to help me get along daily.

Hey I am now working, Surprise! I am better now.
Thank you to my mama, to the Lord and to modern medicine.
